Most of the important work of cleaning up our environment here in the Tricities is done on dry land. After all, people who thoughtlessly dump garbage don’t walk on water. But some of this trash ends up in the Inlet, and a unique cleanup effort will take place on Saturday, November 6th.
Capilano University Outdoor Recreation Management Program students/canoe guides Chelsea Kennedy and Gareth Wheatley are teaming up with the Port Moody Ecological Society for a Canoe Cleanup of Rocky Point. Participants will take to the water in canoes to help clean the waters of Rocky Point. Canoes, paddles, and PFD’s are provided thanks to Ridge Wilderness Adventures and the Rocky Point Sailing Association.
Volunteers can participate for free or by donation, all proceeds will go to the Wildlife Rescue Association. The event will run rain or shine, so be ready to get a little wet out there on the water. Please bring plastic gloves and grabber tools if you have them as they have limited supplies. There are 3 different time slots available of two hours each.
- 10am – 12pm
- 12pm – 2pm
- 2pm – 4pm
