Place des Arts is a gem in the heart of Maillardville. It’s part art gallery, part boutique, part concert space, part art studio and part art (and performing art) school.
One of the things that Place des Arts strives to do is make art accessible to everyone, regardless of their age or background. And one of the ways that they accomplish this is through their Family Day events. Family Day at Place des Arts gives everyone a chance to interact with art, make art and learn about art. They are encouraging us to get engaged in art, instead of feeling intimidated by it.
In the spirit of the Season, Place des Arts is offering their November Family Day for FREE! And it promises to be a great one. Gather up the family and tour the annual Positively Petite miniature exhibition. Participate in a floor talk and workshop with artist Sandrine Pelissier based on her exhibit The Landscape of the Face. Celebrate all things small in two all-ages, drop-in style workshops, and get ready for Light up the Square: A Lantern Affair (which is coming up on December 4) by making your very own lantern with Liz Summerfield.
Drop-in workshops at Family Day include:
- Mini Walnut Sailboats
- Mini Waterless Snow Globes
- Portraiture with Sandrine Pelissier
- Lantern Making with Liz Summerfield
Family Day is happening on Sunday, November 21 from 1:30-3:30pm at Place des Arts [map]. If you’ve never dropped in on Place des Arts before, this is a great chance to do so. You can also check out Place des Arts’ annual Christmas Boutique, which runs from November 12-December 17, and get a head start on your holiday shopping.
Family Day is going to be busy! Be sure to reserve your spot by calling 604.664.1636 before Tuesday, November 16.
