Yesterday, Premier Christy Clark made an announcement at the Port Moody Arts Centre to restore gaming funding to adult arts organizations. This puts back $15 million dollars a year that was cut back in 2009, and expands the number groups that can apply. We may see more good news announcements in Port Moody with a by-election looming.
Speaking of the by-election, Dennis Marsden is seeking the nomination in Port Moody for the BC Liberals. Dennis ran two years ago against NDP MLA Diane Thorne in Coquitlam-Maillardville. He’s looking to go up against Joe Trasolini for the NDP and Christine Clark for the BC Conservatives. Dennis is a past-president of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce and treasurer of the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation, among other community activities. You can check him out at dennismarsden.com.
In other semi-political news, over the holidays Port Moody MP James Moore married his longtime girlfriend Courtney Payne in Ottawa. Congratulations to the newlyweds, and all the best as you embark on the time honoured tradition of deciding whose turn it is to clean the kitchen.
