The Port Moody Arts Centre is once again gearing up for the Port Moody Festival of the Arts. This multi-disciplinary festival brings arts and culture to your doorstep! This year the festival runs from September 20 – 30, 2012, at venues throughout Port Moody. Highlights from the 15th annual festival include performances by Hannah Georgas, Cole Armour and Téa, as well as Ivan Decker and Second Storey Theatre.
Fun for Youth and Families at the Port Moody Festival of the Arts
Local teens will enjoy the Youth Dance Party on Thursday, September 20, 2012, in the Chip Kerr Auditorium at the Port Moody Legion. Music will be provided courtesy of Port Moody Senior Secondary’s Rock School students and grads. They’ll also be able to explore their creative sides on Saturday, September 22 from 12:00-4:00pm at the Rocky Point Skate Park during Art 4 Youth Day. There will be a BMX stunt show, skateboard demonstrations, and the inaugural Art 4 Youth Music Quest.
Families will have fun at Art 4 U, which happens from 12:00-4:00pm on Sunday, September 23 at the Port Moody Arts Centre. This free event include a performance by Axe Capoeira, local indie rockers The Knots, and more. Stop by Raku U to paint your own pottery and see it fired right before your eyes. There will also be button-making, sock puppoets, henna, face painting and a whole lot more. Families will also enjoy the Festival of Stories with Abegael Fisher-Lang at the Port Moody Publich Library on Sunday, September 30 from 1:30-3:00pm. You’ll hear interactive stories from around the world, suitable for children aged five and up.
Affordable Local Arts Experience
During the festival you can also take in Experience Slovakia, the Festival Gala and a Local Filmmaker Showcase. Laugh out loud at the Hats Off Comedy Night, and see the Coquitlam Weavers Guild and Dye Pot Club Exhibit. Experience Hannah Georgas in concert.
