For the past year, Port Moody Secondary students have been working on organizing a fundraiser for Free the Children. Their goal is to collect enough money to build a school in Sierra Leone, Africa. So this Thanksgiving weekend come out to Port Moody Inlet Theater to spend some time with your family, give thanks for having access to free public education and help children of Sierra Leone enjoy the wonders of education. Take in “Hey Maria! It’s an A.B.S Story!”, an original play hosted by the P.E.N (Providing Educational Needs) Project.
“A story of friendship, greed, and the pressure to succeed.”
The play follows four students at the A.B.S. (Advanced Baccalaureate School), a place where one exam determines the entire outcome of the rest of their lives. A counselor, scheming to take over the arrogant principal’s position, reveals her frustrations to a select group of students. Will the stress destroy the students in this conquest? Will the counselor succeed in her game?
All profits will be donated to Free the Children.
Check out the play on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 7:00pm at Inlet Theatre in Port Moody. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for students, and $6 for children and seniors if you book them in advance. To do that, email email@example.com. They would love to add your name to the list and ensure that you pay the cheaper price on the day of the performance. However, if you don’t get around to it, you can still attend! Tickets at the door are still a steal at $10 each.
The P.E.N Project is a student-driven club at Port Moody Secondary School. We have already raised over $10,000 (a million pennies) from the penny project where over 40 schools in SD43 participated in donating. With small contributions, together, we can make a huge difference.
Hope to see you at the show!
